Pat is the Co-Director of Ling Chuang Law Firm and oversees the firm’s patent prosecution practice. Prior to this, he spent 13 years as patent attorney at a renowned domestic intellectual property law firm, including six years as managing attorney at its New York office.
Driven by his profound interest and unique insights in the IP field, Pat joined Ling Chuang in 2025. Being as a veteran patent practitioner with over 20 years of experience, Pat has served numerous internationally renowned technology companies in the fields of materials, chemistry, and chemical engineering, etc. Pat possesses extensive experience in Chinese patent prosecutions, reexaminations, invalidation proceedings, and infringement cases, having successfully handled hundreds of complex patent cases involving sophisticated technologies. Pat also assists clients with overseas patent filings and provides consulting services.
Pat is among the few Chinese patent practitioners with overseas training and legal education background. He received training at a U.S. IP law firm and at the IP department of a major American energy corporation. He holds an LL.M. degree with a concentration in Intellectual Property from Cardozo School of Law. This background gives him a distinctive advantage in cross-border engagements.
Pat is also skilled in designing global IP strategies for clients, offering patent validity analyses, freedom-to-operate (FTO) analyses, and patent infringement assessment reports.
In his spare time, Pat enjoys spending his time with his family. As an avid tennis enthusiast, he has watched in-person three of the four Grand Slam tournaments. Additionally, he is passionate about photography, focusing on landscape and bird shootings.
